The members of the Shinsengumi are rock idols in the upcoming summer anime Bakumatsu Rock. Its TV ad, narrated by Ryoma Sakamoto, is shared on YouTube.

This TV anime is adapted from Marvelous AQL’s PSP adventure-slash-rhythm game. The story is set in an alternate mid-19th century Japan. The Tokugawa shogunate wants to gain control over the entire nation through Heaven’s Songs that can brainwash people. Singing or writing songs other than Heaven’s Songs is forbidden by the government. The main character, Sakamoto Ryoma along with his comrades rise up to change the world through rock ‘n’ roll music.
