The year 2014 saw the rise of the lovely Sora Amamiya as one of the most popular and sought-after voice actresses in Japan, with her roles as Aldnoah.Zero’s Princess Asseylum, Akame Ga Kill’s Akame, Seven Deadly Sins’ Elizabeth Liones, Tokyo Ghoul’s Touka Kirishima, and of course, her break-out performance as Kaori Fujimiya in One Week Friends. But the question right now is, which voice actor will be having a break-out year in 2015?
During an “undercover web discussion” online, several experts, one anime magazine writer, one anime website editor, and one anime music official, all gave their bold predictions which up and coming voice actor or seiyuu might be getting a much-needed break-out in the highly-competitive voice acting industry where other big names like Nana Mizuki, Kana Hanazawa, Rie Kugimiya, and Aya Hirano have all made names for themselves.
They first discussed Risa Taneda, who may have landed popular roles like Beyond the Boundary’s Mirai Kuriyama, Is the Order a Rabbit’s Rize-sempai, Brunhildr in the Darkness’s Neko Kuroha, and Strike the Blood’s Yukina Himeragi, however, she did not make as much impact as expected. The panel discussed that she may be growing as a voice actor a lot more this coming 2015 and expect her in a lot more popular main character roles this year.
The next voice actress they discussed is Haruka Yoshimura who they say might have a break-out performance as The iDOLM@STER: Cinderella Girls’ Mika Jougasaki. They discussed that if she lands several popular roles this year, she may well be heading high up the industry. Last year, she landed plenty of good roles like Shirobako’s Ema Yasuhara, Sora no Method’s Koharu, and Riddle Story of Devil’s Kouko.
They then talked about Azusa Tadokoro, who will be heading to Singapore this March for the Lantis Festival. Tadokoro has been known for voicing Brunhildr in the Darkness’s Kotori and Aikatsu’s Aoi Kiriya, and has performed various theme songs for both anime. Her affiliation with Horipro, as well as her idol Grand Prix and good singing voice have been discussed and they would certainly help her get the breakthrough she deserves.
Haruka Terui was next to be discussed. The voice actress known for her roles as Engaged to the Unidentified’s Kobeni Yonomoro and Yuuna Yuuki is a Hero’s Yuuna Yuuki has had quite a year and the panel said that her good looks and nice body, coupled with her cute voice and flashy nature may give her good break-out roles this 2015.
They also discussed possible “Rookie Award Candidates” for 2015, and they include Haruka Yoshimura and Chinami Hashimoto who is known for voicing Mitsuki Kanzaki from Recently, my Little Sister is Unusual.
They also suggested Tomoyo Kurosawa who voiced Sylphy from Amagi Brilliant Park and Tina Sprout from Black Bullet.
Another possible voice actress to look out for this year is Ruriko Aoki, who will be voicing Riina Tada from The iDOLM@STER: Cinderella Girls.
People should also be looking out for Atsumi Tanezaki, who has had quite the good performance with her roles as Terror in Resonance’s Lisa Mishima and Daitoshokan no Hitsujikai’s Nagi Kodachi, however, not all of them felt she was really up to the task.
As for the male voice actors, they discussed about Natsuki Hanae and Shouta Aoi. Hanae, who already had quite the break-out performance as Aldnoah.Zero’s Inaho Kaizuka may be having a better year in 2015 while Aoi, who has already shined with his role as UtaPri’s Ai Mikaze might also come up with his very own break-out role.
So, who do you think will be this year’s Sora Amamiya?
