[Video] Wacom teaches how to draw mangas with mangaka, Mosoko Miyatsuki, in a video series

If you’ve watched the anime, Bakuman, or have read its manga, you would know that being a mangaka is no walk in the park as it requires hard work, determination, imagination, skill, and lots of luck and courage. Digital drawing table-makers, Wacom, have teamed up manga publisher, Manga University, and mangaka, Mosoko Miyatsuki (Ani ga Rival! manga series), for a step-by-step video guide to drawing mangas, and may help launch the careers of a few future mangakas.

The first video in the series has now been released and it shows how to draw a “happy facial expression using an Intuos Manga Pen & Touch Small and the Celsys software Clip Studio Paint Pro.”

This English-translated video was released by Wacom’s US branch, however, their Japanese branch have videos with tips on anime-style illustrations and character designs featuring other well-known mangakas and illustrators like Noizi Ito (Shakugan no Shana and Haruhi Suzumiya light novel illustrator) and KEI (Vocaloid illustrator and character designer). You can check out their videos below:

Manga University’s English website also features tutorials on how to draw several manga characters like Dragon Ball’s Goku and Vegeta, as well as Ranma 1/2’s Shampoo.
