The official TOHO movie channel has started streaming two new videos for the upcoming live-action movie adaptation of Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata’s manga about making a manga, Bakuman. The first video is the movie’s full trailer and the second one is the teaser trailer
Both videos also feature the movie’s theme song, “Shin Takarajima” by the J-Rock band, Sakanaction, which is a nod to manga legend and Astro Boy creator, Osamu Tezuka’s “New Treasure Island” manga which was released back in 1947. “New Treasure Island” was Osamu Tezuka’s first published manga and is fitting for a movie which pays homage to the manga industry itself.
Takeru Satoh, who is known for playing Kenshin Himura in the live action Ruruoni Kenshin movies will once again be playing a Shounen Jump! character in aspiring manga artist, Mashiro Moritaka. Playing Mashiro’s manga-writing-partner, Akito Takagi, will be Ryunosuke Kamiki who plays Soujirou Seta alongside Satoh in the live action Rurouni Kenshin sequel movies.
The movie will be based on Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata’s best-selling manga series about making mangas and is scheduled to premiere in Japan on October 3, 2015.
