With the launch of the Monogatari pachislot machines this week, a pachinko parlor in Akihabara is providing patrons who are anime fans a very special treat: Monogatari series-themed coin lockers.
These Monogatari coin lockers have replaced the previous Neon Genesis Evangelion lockers which have been used by the establishment since 2008. This will be the first time Island Akihabara has changed lockers in about five years.
Koyomi Araragi, Hitagi Senjougahara, Tsubasa Hanekawa, Nadeko Sengoku, Suruga Kanbaru, Shinobu Oshino, Mayoi Hachikuji and Meme Oshino are all featured and each of them have come bearing a message – a word play or pun based on one of their character quotes in the anime series – for the locker users.
For instance, Tsubasa Hanekawa’s message loosely translates to “It’s not like you could put everything in [to this locker]; you can only put in the things that you can put in” which is a word play on one of the sayings she has in the anime: “It’s not like I know about everything; I only know about the things that I do.”
The pachinko parlor has started using the Monogatari lockers since Monday, November 11, 2013. It can be found in the Don Quijote building in Akiba .
