Thanks to a certain anime known as Girls und Panzer, the small town of Oarai in Ibaraki Prefecture has enjoyed a whole lot of success from increased tourism to events centering on the tank anime like the birthday of main heroine, Miho Nishizumi.
Now, the small Japanese town is bracing for its annual Angler Fish Festival which would surely draw in a whole lot of tourists and Garupan fans. The train going to the town has already been outfitted in Girls und Panzer fashion in anticipation of the event.
The town itself has gone Garupan crazy. Here are some of the town’s fields with the words Girls und Panzer written on it.
If that’s not enough, here’s one from twitter user watarase_kura with a field bearing the words “Panzer Vor”, a phrase you usually hear during the anime. This German phrase means Panzers forward!
The twitter user also posted a picture of this car in Oarai. What a tank-crazy town Oarai is!
Speaking of tanks, that tank we previewed in an earlier article seems to be almost done as posted by a town official named Kazuaki Imamura via his twitter account.
An inn in Oarai known as Sakanaya Honten has revealed in their official twitter account that they will be selling 400 limited edition Saori Takebe PureSweet plum syrup during the Angler Fish Festival.
The annual autumn festival celebrating the Angler Fish will be held tomorrow, November 17, 2013 (Japan time).
