April 18 is the day on which the ninth volume of the My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU (often referred to its Japanese abbreviation Oregairu) series of light novels will be released in Japan.
To commemorate the ninth volume of the light novel series hitting book stores that day, a Nico Live broadcast has been scheduled for 8PM Japan time — with the series’s author, Wataru Watari himself, appearing on it as a special guest to make a “big announcement”.
Or at least, that’s what Wataru Watari and My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU light novel publisher Gagaga Bunko have been teasing on Twitter.
Whether or not there actually will be a big announcement on that day is still anyone’s guess.
But I would certainly go big and put my money on, “yep, something big like a second season of the anime series or another My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU manga/game might be coming”.
After all, light novel publishers don’t actually organise livestreams and invite the author of the series on as a special guest just to commemorate the release of a new volume… and to announce the tenth volume’s release date. That would be such a bust.
The romantic comedy series had previously received an anime adaptation in 2013 (US readers can watch the series here on Crunchyroll), as well as three manga serialisations and a PS Vita game.
If you’re a fan of the series, you definitely want to keep your eyes open that day (here’s the livestream link) — or check back with SGCafe after the fact.
