Little sister characters have been anime mainstays for a long time now, and some of these “imoutos” have become very popular like OreImo’s Kirino and Haganai’s Kobato. Some people even want to have these characters as their very own little sister, and that is why Japanese anime database, Charapedia has asked people which female anime character would they want as their little sister.
All female anime characters were eligible in their poll which means that even characters who aren’t really little sisters are included in their list. Here are their top 10:

8) Azusa Nakano (K-On!)
7) Ayase Aragaki (OreImo)
6) Suguha Kirigaya/ Leafa (Sword Art Online)

Yui Hirasawa’s ever-reliable little sister who cares for her, cooks for her, and serves her whenever at home takes the top spot beating out fellow legendary imouto-characters Kobato and Kirino as well as not-so-reliable little sister, Kagura who is surprisingly popular as a little sister character.
It also seems that “Yandere Little Sisters” are quite popular as Ayase and Nadeko also made it to Charapedia’s top 10. Well, it might not turn out so well if “big brother gets a girlfriend” in the end.
