2014 is here and World Cup fever is certainly taking over the world in anticipation of one of the world’s premiere sporting events which will be held in Brazil. Sportswear giant Adidas is joining in on all the World Cup hype by erecting several larger-than-life statues of some of the characters from Youichi Takahashi’s popular football manga series, Captain Tsubasa.
All the characters were presented wearing Adidas football gear. The statues measured approximately 5 meters and they were displayed over at the Hysan Place at Lee Gardens’ atrium.
The image above features main character Tsubasa Ozora and his team mate, Misaki Taro doing their patented “Twin Shoot” which was recently attempted by Japanese pro football players Takahiro Ohgihara and Hotaru Yamaguchi from the J-League team Cerezo Osaka.
The first Captain Tsubasa statue to be erected over at Lee Gardens was the “Fierce Tiger” himself, Kojiro Hyuga. The Ace Striker is featured on stand-by ready to start the action.
Meanwhile, Goal Keeper Genzo Wakabayashi can be seen ready to do his job and defend the goal
With the World Cup already looming, Captain Tsubasa seems to be having yet another resurgence with collaborations with Spanish Premiere League giants FC Barcelona as well as the the Super Shots series by Japan’s pro-football league, the J-League.
