To celebrate the 15th anniversary of the Phantasy Star Online franchise, Sega’s highly popular MMORPG, Phantasy Star Online 2, is getting an anime adaptation. The anime’s official website has now revealed a new PV for the upcoming anime, and it features the anime’s theme song, “Zessei Stargate,” which is performed by voice actor Shouta Aoi, who voices main character, Itsuki Tachibana.
The video reveals that the anime will be making it premiere on 7 January, and will be broadcast at 1:46 am JST. An official key visual for the anime has also been revealed.
Set in the near future, the anime will feature an original story, focusing on the three main characters, Itsuki Tachibana (CV: Shouta Aoi), Rina Izumi (CV: Ayaka Suwa), and Aika Suzuki (CV: M.A.O.), who happen to be PSO2 players.
And speaking of Shouta Aoi and PSO2,, the voice actor also starred in a live-action stage play adaptation for Phantasy Star Online 2 last year, which also starred other voice actors such as Emi Nitta (Love Lie!’s Honoka), Kazuhiko Inoue (Kakashi from Naruto and Nyanko-sensei from Natsume’s Book of Friends), Hiroki Takahasi (Hetalia’s Japan and Prince of Tennis’s Eiji Kukumaru), Katsuyuki Konishi (Beelzubub’s Tatsumi Oga and Fairy Tail’s Laxus), and Kikuko Inoue (Ah My Goddess’s Belldandy and Air’s Uraha).
