Kikuko Inoue, Showtaro Morikubo, and more, announced as winners for the 10th Annual Seiyu Awards

The official website for the 10th Annual Seiyu Awards, which awards the works of Japanese voice actors, has revealed the winners for several of their awards, which will be given out in an awarding ceremony, to be held in March 12, 2016.

The Merit Award is awarded to voice actors who have greatly contributed to many genres in the industry including foreign works. The winners for this year are:

Sachiko Chijimatsu (Kosuke Kita from Combattler V and Nobita’s mother from Doraemon)


Tadashi Nakamura (Japanese dub voice actor for foreign films, also worked on Tetsujin 28 as Dr. Bigfire)


Michiko Nomura (Shizuka Minamoto from Doraemon and Michi Shimura from Speed Racer)


The Synergy Award is given to works which have demonstrated the appeal of voice acting to its fullest and with the celebrity status bestowed upon its voice cast thanks to its popularity, it is given to Chibi Maruko-chan. TARAKO will be accepting the award on behalf of the show.


The Kei Tomiyama Award is given to male voice actors who broadens the profession of voice acting in all forms of media. This year, it will be given to Showtaro Morikubo, who voices Shikamaru Nara from Naruto and Yuusuke Makishima from Yowamushi Pedal.


The Kazue Takahashi Award meanwhile is the female counterpart of the Kei Tomiyama Award and it is given to Kikuko Inoue, best known for voicing Belldandy in Oh! My Goddess and Kasumi Tendou from Ranma 1/2.


Finally, the Special Award, which is given to voice actors do not fit any category but need a special commendation for their works, will be given to the voice actress unit, AOP, which comprises of Risa Sakurana, Kei Tomoe, Yuki Hirose, Saori Ogino, Aoi Mizuki, and Yui Fukuo. The group performed theme songs for several anime, including Mr. Osomatsu and Ace of Diamond.


The winners for Best Actor, Best Actress, and more, will be announced in the days ahead.
