To commemorate a 300,000,000-copies-sold milestone for Jump Comics and Eiichiro Oda’s One Piece manga series, on November 4 a new downloadable event quest in Monster Hunter 4 will let players unlock a Tony Tony Chopper suit and weapon set for their Felyne helper, the latest issue of Jump magazine has revealed.
Not nearly as cool as Hatsune Miku in Monster Hunter Frontier Online, but hey, if you’ve always wished you could go hunt giant monsters with Tony Tony Chopper, then this is your lucky day.
Why a One Piece X Monster Hunter 4 collaboration? Why commemorate a 300,000,000-copies milestone? Your guess is as good as mine!
Maybe this collaboration is also meant as a form of promotion for One Piece: Unlimited World Red, which comes out in Japan on November 21, 2013.
Both One Piece: Unlimited World Red and Monster Hunter 4 are 3DS exclusives, for the moment. And you will need a Japanese 3DS to play either game, for now, as neither title has been announced for the West yet.
If you do own a Japanese 3DS and Monster Hunter 4, make sure to log into the game on November 4 to download the event quest, which has you hunting a smaller version of Yian Kut-Ku for parts that you can then use to craft the Tony Tony Chopper look-alike Felyne helper costume, and the “Wooden Branch” Felyne helper weapon.
The coolest part? Apparently the One Piece X Monster Hunter 4 cross-promotion collaboration won’t stop at just the Tony Tony Chopper Felyne helper costume and weapon event quest, Jump magazine teases.
