During the annual Tokyo Auto Salon held last weekend from January 10 until January 12 2014 at the Makuhari Messe Hall, several anime series made their presence felt along with their moe character mascots.
Char Aznable’s red Toyota Auris was on display during the event along with a cosplayer dressing up as the Red Comet himself. Several girls dressing up as Zeon soldiers accompanied his appearance — after all, auto shows won’t be complete without girls modelling for a car.
A life-size cardboard cut-out of Miho Nishizumi from Girls und Panzer meanwhile greeted people at Mitsubishi‘s exhibition. The GaruPan main heroine serves as a “2D AR companion” for a new Mitsubishi app for the Android. The collaboration between Mitsubishi and Girls und Panzer was announced last November 2013 during Oarai’s annual Angler Fish Festival.
Taiwanese tire manufacturer Kenda meanwhile presented their own itasha during the auto show which featured their own moe mascot character.
Looks like moe girl mascots are all the rage for companies these days. Even companies like Kemitec, which produces coolants, has their own moe mascot character for their PG55 series coolant.
Spare parts manufacturer Cusco also has their own Moe mascot, Cusco-chan. She even has her own cosplayer.
Inging Motorsport’s moe mascot character Mio presented the Inging 86 itasha along with several Mio merchandise.
