The Black Butler exhibition, titled “Black Butler Original Exhibition: The World of Yana Toboso” to commemorate the popular manga and anime’s 10th anniversary.
The exhibition contains several Black Butler memorabilia which include costumes and approximately 300 pieces of original manga manuscripts drawn by the Black Butler creator himself, Yana Toboso. It is currently being held at the Seibu Ikebukuro department store and will be exhibited for 22 days starting today, January 15, 2014.
The popular series made its debut back in September 2006 in Square Enix’s shounen magazine, Monthly GFantasy. It has become extremely popular, especially among female manga and anime fans, selling over 18 million copies worldwide. The manga has an equally popular anime adaptation as well as an upcoming live-action movie starring Hiro Mizushima as Sebastian. The movie is slated to premiere in Japan January 18, 2014.
Over 200 paintings and illustrations are also on display along with over 100 digital artworks. The exhibition is also displaying scripts and props used for both the Black Butler live action stage musical and the upcoming movie.
The exhibition is open to the general public from 10:00 am until 21:00 (9:00) pm Japanese Standard Time. There will be a 700 yen general entrance fee with a 500 yen entrance fee for college and high school students and a 300 yen entrance fee for middle school students. Admission is free for elementary students or younger.
