Japan is known as the Land of the Rising Sun, the land of anime and manga, the land of giant robots and moe anime girls, and the land where Kit Kat has more flavors than your usual milk chocolate, white chocolate and dark chocolate.
Kit Kat is big in Japan, so big that the usual three variants just aren’t enough to keep people satisfied. They have every flavor imaginable from the more normal ones like strawberry to weirder flavors like wasabi… yes, wasabi, that infamous nose-burning paste usually served with sushi that’s made from a certain Japanese root crop.
A specialty store dedicated to these weird and wonderful Kit Kats will be opening inside the Seibu Department Store in Ikebukuro, Tokyo and it is called the Kit Kat Chocolatory, a specialty store dedicated to everything Kit Kat.
The Kit Kat Chocolatory also offers three special limited edition Kit Kats which are sold exclusively at the store.
The Sublime Bitter Kit Kat is made from couverture chocolate, a highly prized dark chocolate in the culinary world which is known for its mellow bitterness.
The Special Cherry Blossom Tea Kit Kat meanwhile is made from extract powder made from cherry blossoms.
Finally, The Special Chili Kit Kat contains chili pepper cream within the wafers. Chocolate has been mixed with chili peppers since the ancient Aztec civilization and this mix is currently experiencing a revival as chocolate lovers are going back to the food’s roots and eating chili-infused chocolates.
The KitKat Chocolatory will open tomorrow, January 17, 2014 and chocoholics all over the world would certainly want to visit.
