Last Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2014, official Gundam website, Gundam.info asked its female fans which pilot from Mobile Suit Gundam W do they want to confess to or give chocolates to on Valentine’s Day. The campaign, which was dubbed “Operation Valentine” was launched to promote and celebrate the release of the Gundam W: Endless Waltz Blu-ray box set on April 25, 2014.
Each girl has five points when they vote. She has a choice to give all five points to one pilot or divide them up to give the pilots one point each. The voters will then get a return message from their chosen pilot(s) on White Day, March 14, 2014. It is a tradition in Japan for guys to give return gifts to the girls who gave them Valentine’s chocolates on White day.
With a total of 2,139 votes, here are the results:
5) Chang Wufei (1,922 points)
4) Trowa Barton (2,247 points)
3) Quatre Reberba Winner (2,530 points)
2) Heero Yuy (2,966 votes)
1) Duo Maxwell (5,349 votes)
Taking the #1 spot is the pilot of the Gundam Deathscythe, Duo Maxwell who has been taking the hearts of female fans since the 90′s. The self-proclaimed “God of Death” is both fierce on the battlefield as well as the ways of the heart. He beats out main pilot Heero who is also quite popular for his calm and cool personality.
