The disease called amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) has gotten a lot of attention as of late, especially with the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge taking social media by storm, and it has even affected Japan! The most recent big names in Japan to take the challenge are Street Fighter IV producer Yoshinori Ono and Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure manga creator Hirohiko Araki.
Ono, who produced the Street Fighter IV games, as well as Street Fighter X Tekken, Monster Hunter Frontier G, and many more of Capcom’s best-selling video games, was challenged by Square Enix corporate officer Shinji Hashimoto. He posted the video of him getting doused with cold water via his official facebook page.
In his facebook post, he said:
ICE Water Bucket Challenge, I got it!
I accept it from Mr. Hashimoto as Final Fantasy Executive Producer.
I’d like to continue to donation for like a this.
Thanks!
Meanwhile, legendary manga artist Hirohiko Araki, creator of Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure, also took up the challenge and also got doused with cold water. He then challenged fellow manga artist Sako Toshio (Usogui), singer Sayuri Ishikawa, and many more to also take up the challenge.
Both legends were lauded by fans for taking the challenge which has nominees dump a bucket of ice water on themselves or else donate US$100 to ALS research. However, it seems that people who get doused also donate US$100 afterwards. They then have to nominate another person who has 24 hours to complete the challenge.
