The most popular characters from the Monogatari series according to Akiba Souken

With the recent success of Hanamonogatari, NisiOisin’s very popular Monogatari series is as strong as ever. But who exactly is the series most popular character?Hitagi? Suruga? Tsubasa? or how about Koyomi Araragi himself? Akihabara website Akiba-Souken recently conducted a survey asking people who is their favorite character.

With a total of 3,806 votes, here are Akiba Souken’s 20 most popular Monogatari series characters:

The lovable donut-munching loli vampire, Shinobu, makes it to #1 as the most popular character in the Monogatari series. She is actually divided into two characters, her usual loli self, and her more powerful and more mature original self, Kiss-Shot Acerola-Orion Heart-Under-Blade who comes in at #13 in the rankings. If she just came in as one character, it would be very possible that she would have won via a landslide.

Meanwhile, Hitagi comes in at a close second place. Let’s just say that her yandere self-professed tsundere nature may have given her such a high ranking, or maybe it’s the fact that she is actually Koyomi’s girlfriend. #3 ranked Mayoi may have induced some tears, but this loli ghost takes the #3 spot while Tsubasa Hanekawa, who like Shinobu is divided into two characters (the other being #11 ranked Black Hanekawa), takes #4.

Kaiki rounds out the top 5 with his heroics. Come on, he basically did “The Dark Knight” by saving Hitagi and Koyomi while still being branded as the villain. Arararararararararararararagi himself meanwhile takes the #6 spot while the Yandere Snake Goddess Nadeko takes #7 with her surprising nature.
