From OreImo to Pikachu, foreign anime fans in Akihabara were asked to weigh in on who their favorite anime characters are.
A survey of 50 foreigners in Akihabara shows off the diversity of fan-interests, and just how popular certain series are. Below is a sampling of answers.
Although not technically an anime character, this American declares his love for Hatsune Miku, stating that she’s really popular in the United States.
A Belgian fan likes Kirito because he doesn’t make a big deal out of too many things.
Lelouch, as always, is popular with the ladies. This Sweedish fan isn’t after his looks, but because he’s such an interesting character.
Another Sweedish fan, this one male, thinks Mayoi Hachikuji is more interesting, and of course, enjoys the fact that she’s cute.
OreImo proves some popularity in Australia with this fan declaring Kirino is her favorite – she is cute due to the the way she acts like a tsundere.
This Spanish fan was introduced by his friend to Naruto, and he remains his favorite character.
Kaichou wa Maid-sama even makes an appearance on this list, with the main character Misaki Ayuzawa is a Polish fan’s favorite.
Pirates are always cool, and that’s why this English fan enjoys Monkey D Luffy so much.
Speaking of monkies, this Spanish fan’s favorite Saiyan is Goku for his determination at finding the dragonballs, even since he was a little kid.
And it wouldn’t be a real survey unless Pokemon showed up somewhere, and this French fan’s love of the cute character Pikachu helps fill that slot.
