Considering how popular he is, it should be no surprise that Corporal Levi is getting his own spin-off manga, and in a shoujo magazine at that.
Ever since the cleaning episode of Attack on Titan aired, Levis reputation has not been the same. However, it did help to rocket him into popularity among fans of all types. That popularity has landed him his own spin-off manga in Aria magazine, which already publishes Sakura Wars and K. This particular shoujo magazine targets older girls between the ages of 16 and 22, meaning none of the Titan-killing action will be watered down.
Titled Attack on Titan Spin-Off: A Choice With No Regrets Prologue (「進撃の巨人外伝」悔いなき選択プロローグ [Shingeki no Kyoujin Gaiden: Kuinaki Sentaku Puroroogu] ), it will follow Levi’s story before he joined the Survey Corps. The announcement for it also states “The captain’s rogue” and “the path to becoming humanity’s strongest weapon.” It has been hinted before in the manga that Levi has a somewhat shady past, working in underground crime before joining the Survey Corps.
Both incredibly strong and a neat-freak, the manga has a realm of possibilities open to it. It could focus on his strength, or it focus on the humorous situations of a cleaning obsessed personality living in the world of underground crime. With Nitroplus’s Gan Sunaaku, responsible for the A Choice With No Regrets ministory bundled with the 3rd Bluray, and mangaka Hikaru Suruga on board it should at the very least prove to be a valuable addition to the series. Below is a video of Levi in action as a reminder of what sort of action we can look forward to.
The November volume of Aria, which features the spin-off, will go on sale September 28, and will be available through Amazon.jp.
