The Idolm@ster series has proven to be popular in all sorts of media from anime to video games to figures. Now, the series takes on the realm of board games with the latest licensed product in its line-up: The Idolm@ster: Million Live! board game. Yes. Board. Game.
KarbyP has a stack of Idolm@ster playing cards that came with his copy of The Idolm@ster 2 for the Xbox 360 (remember the good old times when Im@s used to be an Xbox exclusive?). But The Idolm@ster Million Live! board game takes, well, the game to a whole new level.
The board game is based on the classic Donjara board game which is quite a popular family game in Japan. It’s rules are like a card version of mahjong. Just like mahjong, up to four players can play and instead of using the traditional mahjong tiles, you use the idols from 765 Promotion.
The board game set contains four player bars (like the ones you use in Scrabble), a manual, a chip sheet, a score table, and 84 card pieces. Haruka, Chihaya, Miki, Azusa, Hibiki, Takane, Ritsuko, Yukiho, Iori, Yayoi, Makoto, Ami and Mani are all represented in those 84 card pieces.
The board game is made by Bandai and Asovision. The game is set for release by the end of October 2013 and will cost 1,890 yen.
