New comedy anime Engaged to the Unidentified or Mikakunin de Shinkōkei will be premiering later today, January 8, 2013.
To promote the anime, three of the series’ voice actresses, namely Yuri Yoshida, Haruka Terui and Eriko Matsui have visited the Hie shrine in Chiyoda, Tokyo.
Yuri Yoshida, Haruka Terui and Eriko Matsui who voices Benio Yonomori all appeared at the shrine cosplaying their respective characters yesterday, January 7. They also came with two enormous wooden wishing plaques or Ema which is traditional for visiting Shinto shrines. The ema was illustrated by the original 4-panel manga author Cherry-Arai.
All three voice actresses are relative new comers with Engaged to the Unidentified being the first anime in which any of them will be cast as main characters. The three of them prayed for the success of their anime. They were even blessed by the shrine’s Shinto priest.
Haruka Terui who voices Kobeni Yonomori has voiced several supporting roles before like Fantasista Dolls’ Champa. According to her, she was happy worshiping at the Hie shrine which was a big honor.
While Eriko Matsui who voices Benio Yonomori has appeared in several hit anime as a supporting character like Log Horizon’s Isuzu and Maoyu Maou Yuusha’s Demon Girl. For her, the shrine’s solemn and peaceful atmosphere made her quite nervous though she prayed for the anime’s success.
Finally, rookie voice actress Yuri Yoshida said that she was careful not to be rude to the gods and prayed hard for the success of the anime.
The anime follows Kobeni Yonomori who suddenly finds herself engaged to a total stranger during her 16th birthday. To make things even more complicated, her new fiance is moving in with her along with his little sister Mashiro.
Crunchyroll will be simulcasting the anime in selected countries. The anime is also one of the eight anime chosen by anime otaku in Japan as one of the ones to watch this winter 2014 season.
