The official Sailor Moon website has announced that the Sailor Warriors’ highly anticipated anime return has been scheduled for July 2014.
The new Sailor Moon anime was originally scheduled to air during the Summer 2013 anime season but delayed with no new updated until idol group Momoiro Clover Z announced the anime’s return this winter season. That new development has however been moved back once again, and this time to July. However, the new anime will still be streamed worldwide via Niconico.
The new anime will be produced by Toei Animation and directed by One Piece director Munehisa Sakai with the theme song being performed by Momoiro Clover Z.
Producer Atsutoshi Munezawa has also announced that this new anime will not be a remake of the original classic but it would be adapting the original manga by Naoko Takeuchi and will be starting from scratch.
