Takahiro and Tetsuya Tashiro began working on Akame ga KILL! in 2010. The manga tells the story of Tatsumi, a fighter from a poor and dying village who sets off toward the Capital in the hopes of making some money to send home. Instead, he discovers that the Capital is completely corrupt, then a beautiful girl robs him and takes all his remaining cash.

Tatsumi is taken in by Aria, a woman of noble birth, but Aria is later attacked by assassins who promise to end the city’s corruption by simply killing everyone who is corrupt. Among them is Akame, the girl who robbed Tatsumi and is the leader of the band of assassins he is about to join.

Akame ga KILL! is probably known best for its violent scenes. It features beheadings, eyes being gouged out, broken and removed limbs, suicide by jumping, boiling people alive, slicing people’s faces off, crucifixion, a pregnant woman being torn apart, a woman being assaulted by a dog, and various other forms of torture.

And now all of that is going to be animated for your enjoyment!
