The winners for the 19th Association of Media in Digital (AMD) Awards were announced last night, March 18, 2014 and its grand prize, the Digital Content of the Year Award, was given to one of 2013′s most talked about anime series, Attack on Titan.
The award was offered by both the Minister of Internal Affairs and Communications and AMD and adds yet another accolade to Attack on Titan’s ever growing (and already impressive) resume which includes a Best TV anime award from Newtype magazine and the 2011 Kodansha Manga Award for the Shounen category.
Shintarou Kawahisakubo from the Kodansha editorial department who is the editor-in-charge for Attack on Titan accepted the award on behalf of author Hajime Isayama. He accepted the award along with a “miniature” version of the Colossal Titan.
AMD also handed out the Awards of Excellence to various video games, artistes, companies and others. The winners of the Awards of Excellence are:
- Windows 8.1 (Microsoft)
- Kyary Pamyu Pamyu
- Niconico Chou Kaigi (live event)
- Kantai Collection (browser game by DMM)
- Kodoku no Gourmet (live-action TV series)
- Nobunaga’s Ambition (Tecmo Koei games)

A huge congratulations to all the winners, especially to Attack on Titan which has clearly dominated much of 2013 in terms of popularity.
