As Mobile Suit Gundam will be celebrating its 35th anniversary this year, Japanese amusement park, Nasu Highland Park is currently having an exhibition featuring the classic 1979 mecha anime which started it all. The highlight of the exhibition? The life-size version of Char Aznable’s red Zaku II.
The attraction called “Zaku Repair Bay” features a life size bust of the infamous Zeon mobile suit measuring approximately 6m in height. The attraction also includes scaffolding, machinery and others to simulate a Zeon repair bay servicing Char Aznable’s personalized mobile suit.
The Gundam exhibition also has four Gundam statues which feature the Gundam oo, the Gundam Age-1 Normal, the Gundam Exia and the Zeta Gundam.
The other attractions include a “timeline corner”, a toy and GunPla exhibit, and a “Memorial Photobooth”. There are also several shops set-up which are selling exclusive Gundam merchandise as well as a Char Aznable/ Quattro Bajeena trivia section. There is also a life-size model cockpit of the RX-78-2 Gundam on display as well as a life-size replica of the Zeon throne room.
The exhibition opened last March 1, 2014 and will stay on display until January 5, 2015. Admission for the exhibition is absolutely free. The exhibition also has full cooperation with Bandai and fully celebrates the “One Year War” between the Earth Federation and the Principality of Zeon.
