It’s the second day of Rurouni Kenshin: Kyoto Inferno tour in Manila. This morning, the three cast members and the director of the highly anticipated Japanese film were chosen to be “cultural friendship ambassadors” to the Philippines.
A ceremony was held wherein there was an exchange of gifts from both nations. The ambassadors were given shawls woven in the Philippines. Afterwards, they gave yukatas as presents to the local officials.
After the program, Keishi Otomo, Takeru Satoh, Emi Takei and Munetaka Aoki stood next to the Rurouni Kenshin-themed jeepney and had their photos taken.

Director Otomo and two cast members Satoh and Aoki also attended the press conference in Makati City (Takei had to fly back earlier for a previous engagement).

According to Otomo, he had a lot of discussions with Nobuhiro Watsuki, the original creator of Rurouni Kenshin. They had collaborative meetings before the creation of the movie adaptation.
While filming Rurouni Kenshin, Satoh said that he got injured plenty of times. Aoki, on the other hand, had a broken tooth but emphasised that it is now fixed.
The two men were also asked about their favorite scenes. Aoki noted that he was excited about the scenes where he had to hit and get all bloody. While Satoh said that decisive battle between Kenshin and Shishio in Legend Ends is something to watch out for. It’s his favorite because it was the toughest scene where he “had to bring out everything.”
The three were surprised and thankful for the warm reception shown by the fans in Philippines. The lead actor Takeru Satoh also hopes that the Rurouni Kenshin movies will give way for more Japanese films to be shown in the Philippines.
