Sword Art Online Fone app gets over 4 million downloads after its release

Released for the Android last August 2, 2014, the Sword Art Online Fone app by Anifone was one of the most highly anticipated anime-related apps as it was not only also available in English, but also free-to-play. Now that the Beta-testing has finally been done and the app released, Anifone has reached 4,000,000 downloads worldwide.

The app was originally scheduled for simultaneous worldwide release last Spring 2014, but the release date was pushed a but further in order to add new additions. The app promises to let you explore the virtual world of Aincrad, the setting of the fictional death game known as Sword Art Online where Kirito, Asuna, Lizbeth, Klein, Silica, and others are trapped and forced to complete the game or die in that virtual world.

The Beta testing started last December and garnered much popularity as it was not only available in Japan, but also countries in Europe, Asia, and the Americas.

The SAO Anifone lets you have a “link start” smartphone lock and it also lets you create and join guilds with other SAO Anifobne users. You can then challenge bosses with your guild once you get a certain number of members as well as enjoy original content found only with the app. What’s more is that you can completely customize your characters and even have either Asuna or Kirito wake you up.

The app can now be downloaded for free via Google Play or through the official website. There are several pay elements in the app, however, they are optional. It is available in either Japanese or English and is compatible with the Android 4 OS or higher.
