Light Novels have given the world plenty of great anime titles as of late such as Black Bullet, Chaika the Coffin Princess, Haganai, and of course, Sword Art Online. Fans from across Japan have recently weighed in on the hottest LN titles for the first half of 2014 via twitter in what is called the “Light Novel Twitter Cup 2014″.
Anyone with a twitter account can vote, even ones not from Japan. The voting period was from July 14 – 21, 2014 and the results have now been tallied and with a total of 902 valid votes and over 200 titles included, here are the Top 10:
10/ 9 (tied): Tokyo Ravens
10/ 9 (tied): Humanity Has Declined
8/ 7 (tied): Haken no Sumeragi Hime Altina (Altina the Sword Princess)
8/ 7 (tied): Kiniro Quartet
6/ 5/ 4 (tied): Hikaru ga Chikyuu ni Itakoro…
6/ 5/ 4 (tied): Dungeon ni Deai wo Motomeru no wa Machigatteiru Darou ka
6/ 5/ 4 (tied): Nejimaki Seirei Senki: Tenkyou no Alderamin
3) No Game, No Life
2) Hai to Gensou no Grimgal
1) My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU (OreGaiRu)
Oregairu has once again gotten itself another accolade after winning the coveted top spot for the Konno Light Novel Ga Sugoi LN rankings for 2014. The Bitter-Bitter-Sweet trio of Hachiman, Yukino, and Yui have definitely captured the hearts of a lot of readers with their unique (or rather jaded) take on the high school romantic comedy genre.
#3 ranked No Game No Life has proven to be quite the contender for the first half of 2014 thanks to its many twists and turns. Of course, the anime adaptation may have helped.
Also noticeable is the absence of many big name light novels such as Kagerou Daze, Sword Art Online, Accel World, Date A Live, A Certain Magical Index, The Irregular At Magic High School, and Durarara!!
What light novels do you think should be part of the top 10?
