Attack on Titan, Madoka Magica, and Oregairu win big in Yomiuri Shimbun"s "Sugoi Japan Awards"

After months of voting, the Japanese newspaper, Yomiuri Shimbun, has recently asked their readers to choose between anime, mangas, and light novels from a pool of 50 nominees, on which is the one which they think is the very best to represent Japan. These anime, mangas, and light novel nominees were chosen by industry experts from the last 10 years.

Basically, what Sugoi Japan aims for is to have Japanese works be acknowledged and noticed by the rest of the world and it has launched an online poll for people to vote which manga, light novel, entertainment novel or anime is their favorite work and would want to introduce to the world. Each media has about 50 nominees and each one of these nominees have been chosen by “experts” in the field. Here are the results:

Those are some pretty dark winners I must say as all the winners of each category are best known for being a little bit darker than the other stories in their genre. Still, those are some pretty big names which have been included in the three Top 10 winners. So which anime do you think would best exemplify Sugoi Japan?
