With Japan’s otaku population steadily increasing, Japanese media website, MyNavi Student, has taken a look at some anime series which were aired in Japan on late night time slots (midnight onwards) that some non-otakus might actually enjoy.
The website asked 432 people, both male and female, about their opinions, and these are just some of the anime they have suggested:

According to a 42-year old female teacher, this popular series is both powerful and thought-provoking
K-On!
According to a 28-year old woman, this musical anime is worth talking about
Madoka Magica
A 33-year old woman meanwhile has said that Madoka Magica’s dark story would also be very popular
Perfect to watch in the middle of the night:
Maria the Virgin Witch
A 25-year old woman meanwhile stated that this anime makes you think which one is more evil? The witch who tries to stop the 100-year war or the Church which profits from the war.
Lupin III: A Woman Named Fujiko Mine
A 28-year old man has said that this is one of the most exciting ones in the Lupin series
Medaka Box
A 28-year old fan meanwhile has said that the battle scenes in this anime is very interesting
Anime which would “heal you before going to bed”
Eden of the East
This anime features a great hero and a heart-punding story according to a 31-year old female employee
Natsume’s Book of Friends
A 42-year old female government employee said that this anime may be about youkai, but it is not as scary as it sounds. That and Nyanko-sensei is very cute
Gourmet Girl Graffiti
A 22-year old male food and beverage worker has said that this series makes him hungry
Anime which can make you laugh out loud
Watamote
According to a 44-year old male IT worker, he laughed out loud until his stomach hurt, especially in episode 8
Gatchaman Crowds
A 34 year old female respondent meanwhile stated that this anime is both surreal and interesting
Anime with “Unique Artistry”
Mushishi
It’s a beautiful anime with a great story says one 50-year old male electrician
Fate/Zero
A 28-year old male medical worker meanwhile stated that Fate/Zero has “god-level” character designs and animation
Ghost in the Shell
A 29-year old female respondent stated that she has been drawn to this classic
