Live-action Naruto finally kicks off in Japan, to also head to Singapore and Malaysia

Looks like Anime Japan ain’t the only big anime-related event which kicked off in Tokyo yesterday, March 21, 2015, because that date also marked the beginning of the live-action stage spectacle known as Live Spectacle Naruto, and it kicked off with a bang over at the AiiA theater in Tokyo.

The actors all showed their acrobatic skills as several LED lights helped out with the special effects to make the play even more special. Projection mapping was also used in the play, not only to enhance the play, but also recreate Naruto’s famous Shadow Clone Jutsu.

Here are several images from the play, which is actually a retelling of the manga’s first 27 volumes:

The cast also met the press right after their performance, especially the main cast which comprises of Kodai Matsuoka (Naruto Uzumaki), Ryuuji Sato (Sasuke Uchiha), Yui Itou (Sakura Haruno), and Kenta Suuga (Gaara of the Sand). Itou talked about her role as Sakura in where she said that she had a complex about her forehead when she was growing up, just like Sakura, and she channeled those frustrations into the performance.

The play will be held over at the AiiA theater in Tokyo from March 21 to April 5, 2015 before heading to Fukuoka from April 10 – 12, Osaka from April 17 – 19, Miyagi from April 23 – 25, and then it returns to Tokyo from April 29 to May 10, 2015.

The play will not only be shown in Japan, but also Macau, Malaysia, and Singapore, and it was also announced the dates and venues where the plays will be held in these three countries.
