In Japan, there is an idiomatic expression called shiruhitozoshiru (知る人ぞ知る), which means “Those in the know, know it very well”. It is often synonymous with things which are not really well known but for those people who know about it, they are quite knowledgeable about it.
For this week’s poll by anime character database, Charapedia, they have asked 10,000 fans which anime or manga series that they know about but are not very much well-known to the mainstream audience, would want to recommend to people they know. Of these 10,000 respondents, 54.6% are male while 45.4% are female.
However, before we get to the results, please note that the phrase shiruhitozoshiru is subjective from voter to voter. Here are the Top 30:

2) Kill Me Baby!
1) Baccano!
I must admit (and I am ready to face any inquisition for this one), that I have not even heard of some of these anime series, though I am familiar with a majority of them, including the #1 ranked Baccano.
Baccano is written by Ryohgo Narita, who also wrote Durarara!!, however, Baccano did not enjoy the same popularity as its Ikebukuro counterpart, though it does have a very loyal fanbase, as is evident with it getting the #1 spot in this list.
Also getting a cult following is #2 ranked Kill me Baby!, which earned that loyal fan base because of its honest-to-goodness humor centering around a normal high school girl and her assassin “friend”.
Again, the phrase shiruhitozoshiru is subjective from voter to voter, so one can find some seemingly popular titles in this list, particularly #8 ranked The Daily Lives of High School Boys and #3 ranked Corpse Party, both of which have been known to be very popular.
