Mobile Suit Gundam: Extreme Vs. Force, a new iteration of Bandai Namco Entertainment’s popular 2-on-2 ‘Gundam vs. Gundam’ mecha action game series is headed to the PlayStation Vita. And this time, for the first time in the series’s history, gamers in Southeast Asia will be able to play the game with English subtitles.

The English localized version is slated to hit store shelves in Southeast Asia (Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand and Indonesia) sometime ‘this Winter’ — which could mean anywhere from December 2015 to March 2016. Outside of Southeast Asia, a Western release in America and Europe has not yet been confirmed.

“We are looking forward to bringing Mobile Suit Gundam series fans an English localized version of the game at long last,” Rainel Tan, General Manager at Bandai Namco Entertainment Asia said.

“Currently we are in the midst of localization and we hope to bring a good quality product that everyone can enjoy, so do look forward to the release in winter.”

Apart from the series’s trademark 2-on-2 player-versus-player game modes, Mobile Suit Gundam: Extreme Vs. Force will also contain a bevy of new single-player modes.

For instance, in the new “Large Scale Battle” mode, players will be able to form a Gundam squadron comprising six mobile suits and a battleship — a total of seven units. Although you’ll still take control of only one mobile suit at any point in time, in this mode you’ll also be able to issue commands to your AI teammates during combat. This means that although you can still win missions by taking out all of your enemies single-handedly — like an ace pilot would — you could also take a backseat and tackle the mission “commander” style, maneuvering your squad members around like chess pieces.

As with all past entries in the series, Extreme Vs. Force will boast a large roster of mobile suits to choose from. This list includes suits from the latest Gundam anime series — Gundam Reconguista in G and Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans (which begins airing on Japanese TV in October).

Details on the new title are still scarce at this moment, but we expect to hear more on it over the next couple of days over at the Tokyo Game Show.
