[VIDEO] Live-action Death Note gets a "forbidden sequel" movie for 2016

The live-action Death Note movies are making a comeback next year, and it was announced when the live-action TV drama ended last Sunday.

Slated for release on 2016, this new sequel movie has been described as a “forbidden sequel” which will continue the two live-action Death Note movies from 2006, Death Note and Death Note: The Last Name.

The announcement video teases L’s Successor, The 6-Note Rule, and a second Kira among others, which makes fans wonder how much these movies will deviate from Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata’s original manga.

The live-action movies will have a man who inherited the DNA of Light Yagami, who will battle the successor of L for the six Death Notes remaining on Earth. The video also revealed that Shinsuke Sato, who directed the live-action Library Wars and Gantz movies, will be directing the “forbidden sequel”.
