Unofficial Gundam-themed bar gives out free drinks to the Japanese flood victims

Any Gundam fan would know that you don’t have to be a Newtype to consider yourself to be a hero, and that is what one bar owner in Utsunomiya, Japan has shown tin the wake of the recent floods in Tochigi prefecture and Ibaraki prefecture.

(Information is updated in the following caption.) This aerial photo dated Thursday, Sept. 10, 2015, shows a residential area flooded after a levee of the river of Kinugawa collapsed in Joso, Ibaraki Prefecture, northeast of Tokyo, Japan. The levee on the eastern side of the river of Kinugawa, swollen by heavy rains, collapsed to cause floods on Thursday afternoon, sweeping away at least eight to nine people, according to the prefectural government. The owner of the unofficial Gundam-themed bar, 0079, which is inspired by the original 1979 anime, has tweeted that his bar will be open to those people affected by the recent floods, the ones who can’t go home, those who need a place to rest, and those whose homes are not really affected but are feeling down. In his tweet, he said that it was the least he could do for them.

The owner was also kind enough to dismiss any sort of praise and was even getting himself flustered as his Gundam Bar is not even an official one.Tou can check out the bar’s own blog through this link
