Summer is already here, and as the crop of Spring 2016 anime are about to end, the Japanese anime research website, Akiba Souken, has asked 12,902 fans on which of the outgoing season’s OP songs is their favorite. So which songs made it? Here’s the Top 20:

18 – “Bloodred” by D-selection (Hundred)
17 – “Disorder” by Yousei Teikoku (Big Order)
16 – “Clover Kakume-tion” by Triple Feeling (Sansha Sanyou/ Three Leaves, Three Colors)
15 – “Reason Triangle” by Quadrangle (Joker Game)
14 – “The Asterisk War” by Shiena Nishizawa (The Asterisk War season 2)
13 – “Okaeri” by Yuusuke Yata (Super Lovers)
12 – “Redo” by Konomi Suzuk (Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World-)
11 – “PUNCH☆MIND☆HAPPINESS” by Happy Clover (Anne Happy)

Despite not being considered as one of this season’s heavyweights like Sakamoto, Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress, Re:Zero, and My Hero Academia, the P.A. Works mecha anime has managed to win by a landslide, as it garnered 3,171 votes, as compared to 2nd place Flying Witch’s “Shanranran”, which only got 1,244 votes. This means that the OP AniSong which got first place got twice as more votes than the song which got second place, despite the anime not being that popular.
As expected, Macross Delta, with its signature mix of idols and mecha, placed high with third, while Sakamoto’s Coolest proved to be really cool by placing 4th. And despite the anime itself being less than stellar, Endride managed to round out the Top 5 with a great song, which is “Limit” by LunaSea.
