To many, Okinawa is one of Japan’s best vacation spots, with plenty of lush beaches and sites to visit. However, Okinawa also has a unique culture of its own that’s quite different from the rest of Japan, and that culture is on show for the Okinawa Festa in Singapore event, which will be held next Saturday, 15 October 2016, at MILLIAN Singapore.
The event is open to everyone, young and old, male and female, and it is presented by the Okinawa Prefectural Government.
For an afternoon, concert venue and nightclub MILLIAN will be transformed into a miniOkinawa. Visitors can expect to taste some Okinawan cuisine along with the island’s signatureOrion Beer.Okinawan ceramics, or ‘Yachimun’, will be on display alongside some of their localglassware, also known as Ryukyu glass. Also on display will be Okinawan local apparel nameYOKANG, known for their use of traditional dyeing technique and vibrant colours.OKINAWA FESTA will be graced with performances by home-grown Okinawan actsRYUKYUDISKO and MONGOL800. The stage will be an interesting mishmash of RYUKYUDISKO’sfusion of dance and traditional Okinawan music, and MONGOL800’s punk rock sound. Visitorsget the rare chance to catch them in an intimate setting at this one-time only concert.
