Shingeki no Kyojin has been everywhere – T-shirts, key chains, mugs, pillows, cars, nails, even Starbucks and McDonald’s. And now, the Colossal Titan has appeared again in a another place you would hardly expect. Hiding in plain sight like the mysterious giant he is, Colossal Titan has taken a trip to the beach.
An eighty-ton sand statute of the Colossal Titan is now terrorizing Enoshima’s Higashihima beach area, located in Fujisawa, Kanagawa prefecture. Towering at 3 meters tall, 4.2 meters deep, and 5.4 meters long, the sand sculpture looks to recreate the cover of Hajime Isayama’s first volume.

Work on the sand Titan began on July 29, as did a film that follows the sand artists’ work. The complete figure should be completed by August 15, on which it will be open to the public and lit up for all to see. I’m sure everyone will be impressed with the amount of detail and hard work that went into creating a masterpiece of this magnitude.
Without a doubt, Shingeki no Kyojin is as big as the Titans looming within its pages. As of last month, volumes 1-9 have sold over 23 million units.
