Dark Souls II: Forging a Hero live-action teaser trailer kickstarts the hype engine

Namco Bandai Games has unveiled a new live-action teaser trailer, entitled Forging a Hero, for Dark Souls II, sequel to 2011′s critically-acclaimed action title from developer From Software.

In it, a knight is seen forging his own blade – not unlike Tony Swatton of Man At Arms’s fame, who forged his own Buster Sword (from Final Fantasy VII) and The Legend of Zelda’s Master Sword.

In Dark Souls II, you will play as a brand new hero different from the one in the first game.

Which, you know, makes a lot of sense since the series is all about brutal (but fair) challenges.

By the end of the first Dark Souls, your player character can pretty much stand up to any challenge and kill anything. So naturally this mean it’s time for a new hero to step up to the plate.

Thus far, not much has been revealed about Dark Souls II’s story, except that it will star a cursed hero who’s seeking a cure to his predicament.

But I get the feeling we’re about to find out more very soon.

Dark Souls II for the PlayStation 3, Windows PC and Xbox 360 comes out around March 14 2014. Dates may vary for different regions.
