Have you ever heard of Bikkuriman? It’s a chocolate-filled wafer that comes with a sticker and is popular with Japanese children. Bikkuriman became really popular to the point that it inspired several anime series as well as a manga during the 1980′s. Some of the stickers that come along with the wafer are now heavily priced and are considered collector’s items.
Now, Japanese convenience store chain Family Mart is conducting a collaboration with popular vocaloid series, Hatsune Miku and Lotte to transform Bikkuriman into Mikkuriman.

This collaboration has been named “Mikkuriman ~ Miku to kimyōna nakama-tachi-hen ~” or “Mikkuriman, Miku and her strange friends“, and by strange friends I mean some of the other vocaloids like Luka, Kaito, Rin and Len. Like Bikkuriman, Mikkuriman are also chocolate filled wafers that come with a card.
The package is designed by Dayo-San and shows your favorite vocaloid characters in a cute super-deformed manner. Some of the cards included with the wafer are quite common while some cards are rarer than others… much rarer. Which card you’ll get in a pack is completely random.
This collaboration begins at the end of August. Here’s Family Mart’s blurred out teaser:
Bikkuriman isn’t the only product Family Mart and Hatsune Miku are collaborating with because Morinaga & Co., Ltd is also getting a Vocaloid make-over with their own chocolate wafer, “Hito shizuku P× ya ma △ × suzu no suke Kyōsōkyoku Wafer Choco“.
Each package comes with a random story card. These story cards come in 16 designs, each inspired by one of the following vocaloid songs:

02 Crazy ∞ nighT
03 Twilight ∞ nighT
04 Himitsu ~ kuro no chikai ~ (秘蜜 ～黒の誓い～)
05 Karakuri 卍 Burst (からくり卍ばーすと)
06 Trickery ⇔ Casino (イカサマ⇔カジノ)
07 ”Synchronicity” series(「Synchronicity」シリーズ )
08 Haitoku no Hana (背徳の花)
Like Mikkuriman, this collaboration also begins by the end of August 2013. Both products are going to be exclusively sold in Family Mart branches.
Family Mart is one of the largest Japanese convenience store chains in the world with stores not just in Japan but also in the United States, China, Taiwan, South Korea, the Philippines, Indonesia and Thailand.
