It hasn’t really been that long since the last time we’ve seen photos of the life-sized AV-98 Ingram mecha prop from the upcoming live-action Patlabor movie.
But seeing as the previous batches of sneak shots got quite the attention on the Internet, over the weekend Shigeru Chiba, who plays maintenance squad chief Shigeo Shiba in the Patlabor live-action film, and the movie’s s just thought he’d snap a few photo of the impressively-built prop, and share it on Twitter.
Patlabor series scriptwriter Kazunori Ito, who’s once again handling the writing work for the new movie, was also at the location shoot this past weekend. He shared on his Twitter account the following picture of the Ingram up-close, wihch really showcases all the intricate craftsmanship that went into recreating this cultural icon from the 1980s world of anime.
The Next Generation -Patlabor- is a live-action movie sequel that takes place in Tokyo in the year 2013 which is, continuity-wise, more than a decade after the “near-future” events (at the time) of the 1980s and 90s hit mecha anime series.
What’s also interesting about the movie is that rather than a single theatrical release, The Next Generation -Patlabor- will instead comprise seven parts.
Within those seven parts, there is an episode zero (10 minutes runtime), 12 full episodes (48 minutes each), and a 100-minute feature-length film that’s slated to be released in 2015.
Former Hello! Project idol and actress Erina Mano stars in The Next Generation -Patlabor- as pilot Akira Izumino, while actor Seiji Fukushi will play the series’s male lead, Yuuma Shiobara.
