Don’t go selling your PlayStation 3s yet just because the PS4′s release is just over the horizon, Kingdom Hearts fans!

Sure, as long as you have a PS4, you’ll be able to enjoy Kingdom Hearts 3 when it comes out. But to truly wrap your head around the mind-boggling zaniness that is the Kingdom Hearts series narrative, it’s probably a better idea to keep your PS3 around (or buy one, if you don’t already have one), so that you can first play through Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX – currently available in stores – as well as Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX, which Square Enix has just announced will be released for the PS3 worldwide in 2014.

That’s one more great PlayStation 3 release to look forward to, after Gran Turismo 6 comes out later this year. Check out the debut trailer for the game below:

As with Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX, KH HD 2.5 ReMiX will include gameplay content not only from Kingdom Hearts 2 on the PS2, but also that from Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep Final Mix (PSP, exclusive to Japan).

There will also be HD remastered cutscenes from Kingdom Hearts Re:coded to bridge the gaps between KH2 and Birth by Sleep, storyline-wise.

“I’m so excited to be able to see all of these games included as a part of this compilation,” says Mat Kishimoto, Associate Product Manager at Square Enix, about today’s announcement.

“But personally, the most exciting title [included as part of Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX] may be Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep Final Mix. As many may not have been able to experience its awesomeness, it’s truly one of the more phenomenal games, and now completely rebuilt in HD — you’ll be able to play it on your big-screen TV for the first time.”
