One of Japan’s most awaited Gundam events, The Art of Gundam, has finally opened in Tokyo, and it not only showed a new life-size Gundam head, a few GunPlas, and a some solid gold and silver ones, but it also featured Toyota’s new Gundam-themed cars as well as some artworks.
Tooru Furuya, the voice behind Gundam’s original hero, Amuro Ray, was present as the opening ceremony’s special guest and also helped unveil Toyota’s new Zaku II and Char’s Zaku II cars. He also unveiled the special 1:1 scale head of the RX-78-2 Gundam, which is a replica of the one blown off during the original 1979 anime’s final scene, which is known to fans as the “final shot”.
The exhibition kicked off lasy July 18, 2015 and can be found at the Mori Arts Gallery in Roppongi Hills, Tokyo until September 27, 2015. The exhibition features plenty of Gundam artworks, sketches, mecha and character designs, videos, and of course, GunPla.
And a Gundam exhibition won’t be complete without exclusive Gundam merchandise for sale right? Some exclusive MGs, HGs, amd Mega-Size Gunplas were put up for sale just for the event. There’s even some Gundam Pocky!
