Hideo Kojima has not left Konami and is only on vacation - Konami

The ongoing saga between Konami and their employee, the legendary Hideo Kojima, has taken a weird turn as Kojima has been reported to have already left the company, however, Konami is denying that he has already left the company. They said that Kojima is still with the company, however, he is currently on vacation.

A spokesperson for Konami has said that “Currently, Kojima is listed as a company employee [at Konami].” He then added that “Currently, Kojima and the development team are finished developing Metal Gear Solid V and are taking a long time off from work.”

The New Yorker’s Simon Parkin recently reported that a farewell party was recently held for Kojima, which was reportedly a “cheerful but also emotional goodbye.” When asked about the farewell party, the spokesperson denied they had any knowledge of it, and said “We’re not sure what kind of thing this was.” Parkin then replied with a tweet from that said party.

It has been reported that Kojima’s contract will expire on December, so maybe it’s a bit too early for that, but having a vacation two months before your contract is reportedly to expire is a but weird, which makes this incident is just another entry to Konami’s ongoing Hideo Kojima saga.

Kojima Productions, along with other internal companies in Konami, had their names changed due to restructuring, and Hideo Kojima’s name was removed from the game titles, which usually sport a sign saying “A Hideo Kojima Game”. Kojima however countered Konami taking out his name with some guerrilla autograph signings, reminding people he was the one responsible for the game.
