Yes, we’ve heard it all before, “if you see Full metal Panic! season 3 in the list, you know it’s fake”, or “you know the world is ending if Full Metal Panic! gets a third season.” Well… prepare yourselves because according to an announcement during the “Fantasia Bunko Big Thanksgiving 2015” event, it was announced that Good’ol FMP will be getting a new anime.
Shoji Gatoh, who wrote the original source light novels (as well as Amagi Brilliant Park), went onstage with voice actors Satsuki Yukino and Yukana, who voice Kaname and Teletha respectively. Together, the three of them announced that a new Full metal Panic anime has already been green-lit, however, they did not announce any further details on this new anime, including which studio will be animating this new work, or which director will be at the helm of it.
To clarify however, this does not necessarily mean this new project will be the mythical third season for FMP, so don’t go celebrating yet. As they did not go on the details much, this may just be yet another Fumoffu at our hands, but then again, we won’t know what happens once hell freezes over and we get season 3 almost 10 years after Second Raid, right?
