Kyoto Animation, best known for producing moe anime such as K-On! and Tamako Market, as well as Free! and Beyond the Boundary, will be adapting Yoshitoki Ooima’s critically acclaimed manga, A Silent Voice, into a brand new anime movie. This was announced with issue #46 of Weekly Shounen Magazine.

The leaked magazine scan from the issue also reveals that K-On! and Tamako Market director, Naoko Yamada, will be at the helm of this new anime movie project, and and Shochiku will distribute the film in Japan.

The manga follows the relationship between Shoya Ishida, and the deaf/ mute transfer student, Shoko Nishimiya, who started bullying her with his classmates on the day they met. However, the tables soon turn when their classmates turn on Shoya as well. Years later, Shoya feels the need that he must see Shoko.
