The anime film is slated to hit North America in April.
The previous title holder is Hayao Miyazaki’s Academy Award-winning masterpiece, Spirited Away, which grossed 289 million US dollars worldwide. Now, your name. has surpassed that amount, grossing 290 million worldwide, making it the most successful animated film to ever come out of Japan.
The film has already been shown in several Asian countries, as it grossed 81 million US dollars in China, became really popular in South Korea, and was also shown in South East Asian countries like Thailand, Philippines, and of course, Singapore. In its home country of Japan, the film grossed $192.5 million US dollars, making it the current third highest grossing film of all time in Japan.
