Every year, snow gets turned into works of art in the city of Sapporo for the annual Sapporo Snow Festival. This annual Sapporo tradition has drawn in tourists from all over the world, and this year’s festival looks to be just as good as several snow sculptures highlight the event once again.
A usual feature of the annual Sapporo Snow Festival is Snow Miku, who once again highlights the event with another cute snow sculpture, this time sporting her Snow Bell design for 2015. At night, lights adorn the snow sculpture, which make it a whole lot more beautiful. As expected, she was flocked with visitors, as well as her official goods store.
Snow Miku is currently teaming up with Madoka Magica for a very surprising collaboration, and the magical girl anime is also present during the event, and they are represented by Kyuubey. Well, let’s just hope this one does not grant any wishes…
Love Live! was also present in the event, as Snow versions Umi, Kotori, and Honoka were given their own stage. The finished version is notably less creepy than the one previewed last month. And just like Snow Miku, the Love Live! goods store was also flocked by fans.
World of Tanks and Girls und Panzer meanwhile collaborated for their own tank-inspired snow sculpture. If you look closely, you can see the Oarai Girls insignia in the tank’s side.
Monster Strike was also present, along with other series such as Sazae-san, Super Mario Brothers, Anpanman, Evangelion, Studio Ghibli, Youkai Watch, and a whole lot of fan-made Snow Mikus.
Do you wanna build a snowman? It seems that a lot of people did, and fittingly enough, Frozen was also present in the many fan-made sculptures
finally, the snow sculpture which is considered by many as the one which truly stole the show is the Lucasfilm-certified Star Wars snow sculpture which featured Darth Vader, some Storm Troopers, some Tie Fighters, and the Death Star. A Darth Vader cosplayer and some troopers were even present during the unveiling. Looks like the snow has fallen into the Dark Side…
