Issue #1 of Young Animal Magazine for 2016 has announced a few major announcements regarding Kentarou Miura’s bestselling manga, Berserk, and that includes one major anime announcement. However, there are some good news and some bad news…
According to Young Animal #1, Berserk is getting a new anime, though it did not mention if it will be a TV anime, movie, or any other format. Kentarou Miura also spoke about this new anime in the issue, and said that we will finally get to see Guts as the Black Swordsman for the first time. The issue also revealed that the anime’s first PV will be revealed during this month’s Winter Comiket, at the NBC Universal booth.
Now for the bad news. Now we all know that Kentarou Miura is one of the most hiatus-prone mangaka in Japan, and just when you thought he is finally back for good since his return last September, Young Animal #1 announced that he will be going on hiatus yet again, and this time, he won’t be back until around Summer 2015.
Miura took a break from making Berserk in early 2014 to make the mini-series, Gigantomakhia. Berserk returned later in April, however, the manga went on hiatus again in June before returning in August. This new hiatus which started last September is only the latest in that series of hiatuses, however, many fans of the manga are hoping this would be the last one in a long time
